He didn't buy a dog collar!

Well, if this guy'd bought one of Dog Dazzle's Dog Collars, he wouldn't have even been in the running for the annual Ugly Dog Contest. Pabst, a 4-year-old boxer mix, shows off his winning underbite during the 21st Annual World's Ugliest Dog Contest, held at the Sonoma-Marin Fair last Friday in Petaluma, Calif.

Serendip's AMY GASPARD is headed toward stardom!

Amy Gaspard, whose elegant beaded flowers, hair accessories, and wire & bead bonsai are featured at Serendip, has been declared a finalist in the Fire Mountain Gems 2009 Beading Contest! Amy submitted her ethereal crystal cherry tree to the contest. She was recently notified that she is a finalist, so shipped the actual art to Oregon to be judged in person for the second round.

The tree is formed from brown-colored copper wire, seed beads, and about 110 Swarovski crystal flowers. It's mounted on a sheet-moss covered 3 pound rock and sits in a display dome. A photo barely does justice to her meticulous work; from the complex yet elegant root system to the gently turned tree trunk, to the intricate branches touched by glimmering crystals that sparkle in the least light...

Let's all give a quick finger-cross to send our support to Amy for her unique and elegant artwork, and help the judges at Fire Mountain realize what we already know-- this art is definitely award-worthy!!

Did you see the cute vintage aprons they showed recently on The Today Show, for just under $50??

'cause if you saw them, you owe it to yourself to come see the much better, more affordable, locally crafted vintage and retro aprons that recently arrived in The Market at Serendip.

We have vintage aprons sewn from a vintage pattern-- remember Grandma's feedsack-patterned apron? Becky Mannasmith has handsewn these nostalgic aprons in several fabrics, ideal for cookie-baking, cocktail serving, or preparing a big family dinner!

Lea Ann of Cherry Pie Threads has craftily stitched retro aprons to take you back to Donna Reed days... gingham with appliques, a coffee print, black and white-- do you want a malted milk with that cheeseburger?

Any of these aprons will make a great gift for Mom, wedding shower treat, housewarming present, or hostess gift. Come in and check them out!!

THIS JUST IN-- VINTAGE FURNITURE!!

The Market at Serendip is now home to some fantastic new-- well, actually, old-- furniture! We just received a fiberglass/resin patio set from the late 60's or early 70's; this set proves that everything old is new again, as it looks as contemporary as something from this century would!

We also have a brass and glass table set (coffee table and end tables) with vintage age but modern lines; and wait till you see the New Delhi chair, Thonet chairs rescued from a college library, vintage lamps, and the French patio set. There are too many items to mention, but plenty of great pieces to give your home that eclectic look... Wait till you see the fantastic iron triangle chair with zebra print seat!
